Congratulations to Juanita Griffin, our April Star of the Month! Nita serves as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Groton Rural Cemetery Association, and she spent the fall of 2003 putting the cemetery burial records into digital format. Nita recently donated a copy of those records to us, which will greatly add to the information we have online. Nita also donated the records of her mother, Dorothy Ostrander, past Town of Groton Historian. The day has arrived, the Ludlowville
Pine Grove Cemetery (Old Section) project is finished! This file
was a huge undertaking two years in the making, and many people were involved
in making it happen. Nina (Christofferson) McAndrews and her late husband,
Pat, spent several years clearing the old ground, and cleaning headstones
in this old section of the Ludlowville Pine Grove Cemetery. Nina has recorded
the cemetery by walking it and reading headstone inscriptions. Nina, along
with her sister, Sarah (Christofferson) McKane, finished recording the cemetery
in the summer of 2001. In the fall of 2001, Nina, Sarah, and Cheryl walked
the cemetery comparing Nina's records to the headstones as an additional
check. In February 2003, the Ludlowville Pine Grove Cemetery Association
donated their burial records. This record is a combination of Nina's records
and the burial records of the Ludlowville Pine Grove Cemetery Association. Please note that this cemetery has two sections, Old and New, and this record is the Old section. The New section has not been recorded. Thanks to Cheryl Hall for coding this file, and to Nina, Sarah and the Ludlowville Pine Grove Cemetery Association for all their hard work. |
