TURNER- In Ithaca, September 16, 1884, Ebenezer Tousey Turner, aged 71 years. The funeral will take place at his late residence, Friday at 3 o’clock.

HILBERT- In Ithaca, September 17, 1884, Edward F., youngest son of Frank J and L.A. Hilbert, aged 10 weeks. Funeral at 3 pm, on Thursday at 95 West Green Street.

Mr. Joseph Stringer died at his residence on Pleasant Street yesterday morning of consumption. Deceased was forty six years of age and leaves a wife and four children. The funeral was held at the house this afternoon at 3 o’clock.

Mr and Mrs. Whitney Newton, who have been visiting for the past few weeks with Mrs Newton’s parents, Mr. And Mrs. James Quigg, started for their home in Pueblo, Colo yesterday morning.

George S. Jackson, a paroled convict at the Elmira reformatory, committed suicide yesterday morning by shooting himself.

WEDDING BELLS
Matrimonial Events in Ithaca To-Day
This afternoon at 4 o’clock, just as the DEMOCRAT was going to press, an event occurred which has for some time been the subject of joyous anticipations, and in which two of Ithaca’s most popular young people were the chief participants. Miss Flora Bliven was united in marriage to Dr. Frank Howe, at the residence of the bride’s father, Mr. C. M. Bliven, by the Rev. H.F. Spencer, of the Aurora Street Church. The bride, in an elegant costume of white ottoman silk, tastefully trimmed with natural flowers, looked pretty beyond description and the groom was as dignified and handsome as can be imagined. There were congratulations without end from the company of intimate friends who had assembled to witness the happy event. The company is now enjoying the hospitable treatment of the bride’s parents, and the reception, accompanied by an elegant repast, is progressing most happily.
    At 6:40 o’clock, the happy couple will leave for a tour to Niagara and other points of interest. Among many guests present at the ceremonies are the following from out of town: Mr. and Mrs. Albert Allen, Syracuse; Mr. and Mrs. Will Mason, Norwich; Mr. And Mrs. George Mason, Decatur, Ill.; Miss Sarah Kenyon, Syracuse; Mr. And Mrs. M.W. Norton, Warsaw; Mr. And Mrs. Will Squires, Mecklenburg; Mrs. S. Taber, Dryden; Miss Ada Estabrook, Newfield. The presents were handsome and numerous.

PHILLIPS-VAN ORDER
Miss Carrie M. Van Order was married to Mr. Charles A. Phillips, at 4 o’clock this afternoon by the Rev. Dr. Beach. Both parties have innumerable friends in Ithaca who wish them any amount of happiness. They will leave for New York at 7:10 o’clock this evening.

CHIPMAN-DRISCOLL
Miss Josephine Driscoll and Mr. E.A. Chipman will be married at the Catholic parsonage at 4:30 o’clock. A reception will be held at the bride’s residence. The pair will leave for Rochester this evening.

The funeral of John Warren was held this afternoon at two o’clock at the Episcopal Church, and was attended by large numbers of friends of the deceased.

Trumansburg- Miss Anna Sarah Camp, daughter of the late Col. Camp, died Monday night. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon from her late residence on Lawn St.

South Lansing- Jay Beckwith was made the happy father of a nine-pound boy one day last week.

DARLING- After a lingering of illness of paralysis, at his residence in McLean, Mr. Robert Darling, in the eightieth year of his age.

Miss Katie Puff, daughter of John L. Puff, Esq., died this morning. The funeral will be held Thursday at 2 p.m.

Robert Stevens was arrested today on complaint of his wife for non-support of his family. He plead not guilty and an examination will be held on the 12th before Justice Hungerford.

August Lang was arrested on a warrant yesterday afternoon, on a charge of wife beating, and will have his examination tomorrow evening at seven o’clock. He claims he was only acting in self-defense.

Frank Sweister was arrested in the first ward last night, by officer Conly for drunkenness and disorderly conduct. He had his examination this morning before Justice Burns, and was given the choice of paying a fine of $8 or staying five days in jail.

CANDOR-
Frank Dixon committed suicide last Saturday night by shooting himself through the temples. His funeral was held at his father’s residence, Monday at 2 o’clock.

The funeral services of Miss Katie Puff, deceased daughter of John Puff of Newfield, took place at two o’clock this afternoon at the Presbyterian Church in Newfield, the Rev. Mr. Hammer of Dryden, officiating.

THE OLDEST INHABITANT

The Auburn News publishes the following respecting the old lady, ELIZABETH PIFER, of Groton: “A strange incident transpired yesterday at a station on the Southern Central. Mrs. ELIZABETH PIFER, a lay 107 years old and in excellent health, took the cars at Peruville. It was the first time she had seen a locomotive and cars in her life. A delegation of curious people attended at the depot to see her off. Though a little alarmed at traveling with such a high rate of speed, Mrs. Pifer quickly came to the conclusion that a cushioned seat, twenty miles an hour, and a smooth road, was a little ahead of the stages and corduroy turnpikes of the days of her childhood. She has now lived in the town of Groton since 1866, and was yesterday on a visit to the village of Groton to see a young lady acquaintance 100 years of age.

GINN- At the residence of his father, Prof. W.C. Ginn, on South Albany St., this Tuesday morning, CALDWELL BRAMHALL GINN, aged 3 years. Funeral from Prof. Ginn’s residence at 1:30 on Thursday.

A decree of absolute divorce has been granted by Judge Boardman in the case of Joseph LaPoint vs. Susan LaPoint. T. W. Burns, Esq. was attorney for the plaintiff.

Mrs. Margaret Derrick died last evening of typhoid fever, aged sixty-four years. The funeral will take place from the residence of her son, W. J. Derrick, No. 47 Utica street, to-morrow morning at ten o’clock. The remains will be buried in East Lawn cemetery.

Erma, infant child of Frank and Emma Robinson, died this morning of cholera infantum. The funeral will take place tomorrow morning at 11 o’clock from 34 North Plain street.

Rev. Bassett McCall died yesterday at his residence, at the advanced age of eighty-four years. The funeral will be held at the Zion M.E. Church tomorrow afternoon at two o’clock.

Miss Libbie Husk, of Newfield, left yesterday to accept a position as assistant principal of the High School at Fort Collins, Col., at a salary of seven hundred dollars per year.
