(all the family were active in politics up to our children's generation and were taught from the beginning that voting was the inherit right of all the people in America and to vote was a privilege you had to vote for the man or woman of your own choice.) On the 12th of October 1835 he received a patent for 160 acres of land in Oakland County, Michigan Town 3 North Range 9 East Section 2 of Waterford Township, but it is thought that he never came here since he neither appears as an absent taxpayer nor paid taxes or appeared in the 1845 census. The land was probably bought in his name and farmed by his brothers. The land records for this property has not been researched by this author. His worth in 1850 shows personal property at $4800 (FC Lansing pg 192r 28 Sept 1850). Jacob died in Lansing 13 June 1857 age 63yrs 6mo 6da and Sally died there 13 February 1862 age 69yrs 10mo.
