Silas Compton also appears in the 1830 and 1840 US Federal Census, Town of Danby. In the 1850 US Federal Census, Town of Danby the following
information on Silas and his family is found: A search of the LDS records revealed a Silas Compton, b. March 31, 1798 in Wantage, Sussex, New Jersey to John and Abigail Hanes Compton. This Silas Compton was baptized in 1799 at the Clove Valley Dutch Reformed Church, Wantage, Sussex, New Jersey. Perhaps these are the records for the Silas Compton who is buried in Danby; the age and the state of birth seem to fit. |
