Lanterman Family Cemetery

Also known as: Starner Farm Cemetery and Private Cemetery of East Lansing

This burial site is located on a knoll in a pasture on the Starner Farm on Van Ostrand Road. (private property)
Approximately one mile north of East Lansing and between Munson and Goodman Roads on the east side of Van Ostrand Road.
Town of Lansing, Tompkins County, NY.
Cemetery is inactive.

Headstone inscriptions copied by S. Haring & Isabelle Parish on May 11, 1953. "We found only 4 stones. We are told there were more graves of their children, perhaps 15 in all with a wire fence around. A hired man named Hogg, was buried outside of the fence".
This record is as complete as possible at this time.

The following stone was found near the cellar steps of the Starner Farm:

May be from the Lanterman Family Cemetery.

A search of the LDS records and the DAR Patriot Index found John Lanterman, b. March 16, 1741 in New Jersey to Johan Peter Lanterman and Elizabeth Peterson, d. October 15, 1813 in East Lansing New York. John Lanterman married first Susannah Weybrandt and second, Mary Saladay. He served as a private in the Revolutionary Army, Btty. 6, Co. 8, Penn. George Saladay Lanterman was b. April 10, 1790 in Marksboro, Warren County, New Jersey. He married Sarah Hanna, b. July 8, 1792 in New Jersey on June 5, 1811, Sussex, New Jersey.
