The Ulysses Historical Society Museum

The Ulysses Historical Society was formed in Trumansburg, New York in 1975.
After being housed in the Masonic Temple for several years, the Society received funds for a new home.
The benefactors were Adrian and Richard Pearsall who gave the building in memory of their father, Adrian O. Pearsall.  The museum building was constructed by James Stevenson.

2007 Events

April 13 – First Week of December
Museum Open for the 2007 Season
The UHS Museum is open for the 2007 season on Monday mornings from 9 to 11 a.m., and Friday and Saturday afternoons from 2 to 4 p.m.  New exhibits this year include:  Silver Dan pulling the mail cart used by Charles Crippen to deliver the mail to RFD customers in the Trumansburg area (donated by the King family);  the “Work-a-Day Week,” with “Monday – Wash Day” and “Tuesday – Ironing Day”;  and fire-fighting in Trumansburg. 

April 17, 7:30 p.m.
Annual Meeting with Presentation of the History of Trumansburg’s Fire Departments
Free lecture open to the public
Ed Brown will present a slide show on the history of the fire departments of Trumansburg.  The museum’s new permanent historical fire-fighting exhibit will be unveiled in the Ulysses Room. 

May 5, 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Annual Yard and Bake Sale
This annual fundraiser will be held in the basement of the museum.   

May 12, Noon – 2 p.m.
“Tops and Bottoms Luncheon”
Tickets:  $12 each – no walk-ins
Local “models” will don “Tops and Bottoms” from yesteryear from the museum’s Costume Collection, selected by Sally Hubbard and Debbie Nottke.  Tickets must be purchased in advance at the museum or Tompkins Insurance Agency or by calling Georgianna Stevenson at 607-387-6496.
