Mrs. KNAPP was the granddaughter of Elias W. and Mehetabel BRUMBALL CADY, early pioneers of the town. About five years ago the vital forces began to give way, due to paralysis, and she slowly failed. The end was quiet and peaceful.
Mrs. KNAPP is survived by her husband, who deserves much sympathy, and by six daughters and six sons, who were immediately called from their various homes and all were present. These are Frank W. KNAPP, and Mrs. Albert DAVENPORT, of Marcellus; Robert D. KNAPP of Katonah; Dr. Albert C. KNAPP and Dr. John B. KNAPP, of Cortland; Prof. Asa KNAPP, of Niagara Falls; Hiram C. WILSON, both of Dryden, and an aged aunt, Miss Mary CADY, also of Dryden.
After the beautiful burial service of the Episcopal church and a most appropriate address by the Rev. Dr. Sanber, the remains were carried to their last resting place in the cemetery at Marcellus by the six sons, it being New Year's Day and her 71st birthday. The floral tributes were exceedingly beautiful and much appreciated by all the friends. It was a touching incident that some time since, she requested that she be buried in the same dress in which she was married, so she was laid away as she became a bride, almost fifty-three years ago. Mrs. KNAPP possessed a strong character and had a large circle of friends. Her life as exemplified in the family of sons and daughters was nobly accomplished.
